Need a little inspiration? Then walk down the aisles of your local hardware store. Create window curtain tiebacks with a swivel-eye snap hook, key ring, and some cording. Use rope (and a hot glue gun) to wrap around a dated lamp base or cover a shade instead.
Fashion pendant lights from a simple light kit and glass canning jars. Shop for decorative door knobs to use as a support for artwork or install a group of knobs onto a piece of wood to hold necklaces, belts, scarves or even towels if the knobs are large enough. Click here to find out how.
Or get real creative and tackle this funky coffee table using galvanized pipe fitting elbows. Click here for more hardware store decorating ideas.

I like the lamp idea...I see so many ugly lamps that I can buy fairly cheaply and I can also get some twine....thanks for the inspiration.
